RCC: REVISED POLICY FOR REOPENING
We have been gathering for corporate worship on Sivey Road for since June 7, 2020. After two
weeks experience, the elders are revising our original reopening policy and the following will
replace that original policy effective June 21, 2020.
In light of COVID-19, the elders have adopted policies and guidelines that will allow us to
worship together again in as safe of an environment as possible, while minimizing health risks
for those that chose to worship at the church building.
First of all, we request that at-risk individuals (those 65 and over and people with certain
underlying medical conditions) continue to worship at home. Anyone with symptoms of illness
of any kind must not enter the church building until the symptoms are gone or until they have
been released by a physician to interact with the general population.
To accommodate worshippers in these categories and others that do not feel comfortable
returning to corporate worship at this time, we shall continue to offer RCC Home Church. This
will be offered via live-stream/video recording during the 10:30 am service. In order to provide
a quality live-stream service, the front window and a portion of the side windows in the
sanctuary will be covered to provide optimal lighting during the 10:30 am service. The front
window in the sanctuary will be uncovered during the 8:30 am service. (NOTE: STARTING
SUNDAY, JULY 5, 2020, FIRST SERVICE WILL ONCE AGAIN BEGIN AT 9:00 A.M.
INSTEAD OF 8:30 A.M., WHICH WILL STILL ALLOW AMPLE TIME FOR CLEANING
There will be no nursery or children’s programming for either service until further notice.
Children that accompany parents for worship must sit with their parents, who shall be
responsible for making sure that their children comply with these policies. Also, the church
building will not be available for non-church related activities until further notice. In fact, the
west wing of the building will be closed during worship services to everyone except staff or
authorized personnel until further notice.
BEST SANITATION PRACTICES:
This policy adopts and includes the following best sanitation practices:
Everyone shall use hand sanitizer upon entering the building. Hand sanitizer will be
available at stations throughout the building.
High traffic areas, including restrooms facilities shall be sanitized between services.
Attenders are reminded to cover coughs and sneezes.
Face masks covering your mouth and nose are recommended but optional. (Greeters and
Ushers may wear face masks and gloves while serving at their discretion)
No coffee, drinks or snacks will be served. Coffee/water that you bring in your own
travel mug will be permitted as before.
The following guidelines are also adopted until further notice:
Offering plates will not be passed during worship services. Offering boxes are located at the rear
of the sanctuary and in the Welcome Center. You are also encouraged to use our secure online
giving service “Givelify” which may be accessed through the church website. Tithes and
offerings may also be dropped off at the church office during regular office hours or mail your
offering to the church building at 29063 Sivey Road, Richwood, Ohio 43344.
The Lord’s Supper will not be passed during the communion service. We shall continue to use
the pre-packaged emblems. Those in attendance may pick up their emblems prior to the start of
the worship service from a basket at the rear of the sanctuary. Please dispose of your used
communion kits in waste receptacles as you leave the sanctuary. RCC Home Church attenders
may continue to pick up their home communion in the communion containers outside the south
entrance throughout the week.
Our goal for modifying the way in which we partake of these ordinances is to ensure that
multiple people do not unnecessarily come into contact with the same surfaces and objects.
Church greeters and ushers shall be at all entry doors and throughout the building to assist with
policy/guideline questions and to assist with seating in compliance with the social distancing
policy outlined below. Handshaking and hugging is discouraged as attenders may have changed
their view of these social practices in light of the “new normal.”
Ushers will assist in the seating and dismissal process, and we request that congregants follow
their guidance to assure that we can maximize safety and social distancing during the services.
Overflow seating will be available in the fellowship hall (north entrance). The same seating and
spacing guidelines apply to the overflow seating area.
We will continuously monitor the risks and mandates applicable to our local community and
these guidelines will be updated accordingly. All changes will be communicated in an
expeditious manner. During these unprecedented times, we ask that you all continue to pray for
one another, our staff and our church leadership as we face a COVID 19 world together. Also,
pray for unity as we adapt to changes and continue to grow as a healthy body of Christ, for His
